The B-Town Improv Hoedown will feature daytime improv workshops for professionals and performers, as well as evening improv comedy shows for all ages. All proceeds will benefit the IIDC Theater Programs, including Camp Yes And.
“This festival has something for everyone,” says Jim Ansaldo, the event’s organizer. “Whether you want to improve your public speaking confidence, learn to use improv in the classroom, perform comedy on stage, or have some laughs with family and friends – we’ve got you covered.”
The festival runs from 9 AM to 11 PM on October 5 at the Ivy Tech John Waldron Arts Center, 122 S Walnut St, Bloomington, IN 47404. Ticket costs for workshops and performances vary. More information is available by visiting https://go.iu.edu/improv or calling 812-855-8343.
“We’re also the only improv festival I know of that includes workshops in both applied improvisation and improv comedy,” Ansaldo adds. Applied improvisation focuses on using the communication and collaboration skills of improv comedy in professional settings, such as business, education, and design.
The festival is hosted by the Ivy Tech Community College Center for Lifelong Learning, in partnership with the IU Center on Education and Lifelong Learning at the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community.
